The Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Director of the Task Force for the Latvian candidature to the United Nations Security Council, Andrejs Pildegovičs, and the Director of the International Organisations and Human Rights Department, Agnese Vilde,  met with the Under-Secretary for Foreign Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Tang Friborg, the Special Representative for Denmark’s candidature to the UN Security Council, Holger Nielsen, the Director for Multilateral Cooperation, Marie Louise Koch Wegter, and other Danish colleagues for a discussion on matters high on the United Nations agenda and they agreed on a close coordination  to advance shared interests.

The consultations focused on the sharing of experience between Latvia and Denmark as candidates for a seat on the UN Security Council and the related practical aspects. The officials agreed to continue their unwavering support for a rules-based international order and to engage actively in UN processes aimed at addressing global issues. The partners also exchanged views on current geopolitical challenges, especially the impact of the Russian aggression against Ukraine on the agendas of international organizations.
