On the occasion of the Balts’ Unity Day 2020, we would like to invite you to attend the event on the Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Canada, on Tuesday, the 22nd of September 2020, at 5.00 p.m.
Lithuanians and Latvians celebrate the Balts’ Unity Day to commemorate the defeat of the Livonian Brothers of the Sword in the Battle of Saulė on 22nd September 1236. Parliaments of Latvia and Lithuania designated 22nd September as the Balts’ Unity Day in 2000.
In Canada we launched tradition in 2016. Thank you to Ināra Eihenbauma for a great idea. Since then, every year all three Baltic Countries organise event in Ottawa expressing their unity, mutual support and solidarity.
Starting at 4.50 p.m., gather in the middle of the Parliament Hill grounds next to the Centennial Flame. We invite to bring small national flags and be ready to sing national anthems joined by the voices of members of our local communities.
Afterwards we invite all participants to join us for informal gathering.
