On 19 July 2019, during the opening of the Latvian-Indonesian Business Forum in Jakarta, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkēvičs emphasized Latvia's interest in developing economic cooperation with Indonesia, which is the largest Southeast Asian economy and also the most important export partner of Latvia in the region.
Addressing the members of the Forum, the Minister called for the diversification of economic dialogue by encouraging cooperation in the information and communication technology, education and timber industry. Edgars Rinkēvičs recalled that it is important to invest in information exchange in order to improve knowledge of the business environment and opportunities. The Minister also called on travelers from Indonesia to discover Latvia as an attractive tourist destination.
Edgars Rinkēvičs appreciated the work of honorary consuls in both countries, promoting business contacts and providing support for closer cooperation in the fields of culture, education and tourism.
On 18 and 19 July, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkēvičs is accompanied by Latvian businessmen from JSC “X-Infotech”, JSC “HORTUS Digital”, JSC “Vārpas 1”, JSC “Impexwood”, as well as representatives of the Riga Technical University and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia.
