A meeting of the General Affairs Council of the European Union (EU) will be held in Brussels, Belgium, on 18 July 2019.
At the meeting, the Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU will inform the representatives of the EU Member States of its planned work in the negotiations of the EU multiannual budget for 2021-2027. Member States will also be presented with priorities of the Finland’s Presidency.
Representatives of the EU Member States will discuss issues relating to the implementation of the EU Strategic Agenda for 2019-2024, adopted by the European Council on 20-21 June.
At the meeting, the European Commission will present the representatives of the Member States with the current situation in the issue of rule of law in Poland.
The General Affairs Council meets once a month, and in the second half of 2019 it is chaired by the Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU.
In July, at the meeting of the EU General Affairs Council, Latvia will be represented by Sanita Pavļuta-Deslandes, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Latvia to the European Union.
